"Shane's a lot of fun. He'due south very spontaneous and loves to laugh," the Nutrient Network star, 47, tells PEOPLE in this week's issue. "It's one of my favorite things about our relationship." And her guy is every bit smitten. "Giada is i of the most positive people I accept always met," says Farley, 45, a Telly producer. "She'southward warm and admittedly beautiful—what you see on the outside is there on the inside every bit well."

The couple met in 2013 after Farley was hired to produce a talk prove with De Laurentiis and her close friend Bobby Flay. The project never panned out, just a romance flourished afterward the chef and mom to Jade, nine, had a chance to "rest and reset," as she puts it, post-obit her split from way designer Todd Thompson in 2014.

"Afterwards I got divorced, I spent about a year and a half alone, not dating, just figuring things out. I had been with Jade's dad for 25 years. I didn't know what information technology meant to not be married," she says. "One time I got settled, [Shane and I] reconnected and I felt similar a kid over again."

Juggling dating with beingness a working unmarried mom means De Laurentiis has learned when to ask for help. "What'southward helped me be successful is being okay with knowing I tin't practice information technology all. I have a wonderful team of people around me that assistance me every day," she says. "Getting forth with my ex-husband really helps likewise. Nosotros're supportive of each other and, in plough, supportive of Jade."

And when mother and daughter are together, De Laurentiis cherishes their time, especially in her primary domain: the kitchen. "I bought Jade a little purple ceramic knife and she just loves information technology. She's like 'What can I chop? What can I cutting?' It makes her excited most what she'southward going to make, and and then she'south more apt to actually try new things and eat her dinner," says De Laurentiis, who spent a month in Rome with Jade to shoot her upcoming cookbook, Giada's Italia.

Enjoying meals together, like the chef's farro and white bean minestrone (recipe beneath) or her lasagna bolognese—is another gamble to bond, with each other every bit well as with Farley.

Giada De Laurentiis' Farro and White Bean Minestrone

2 Tbsp. actress-virgin olive oil, plus more for serving
½ large (half dozen oz.) yellow onion, chopped (1 cup)
two medium carrots (4 oz.), cut into 1/two-in. pieces (3/iv cup)
1 celery stem, cut into one/2-in. pieces (one/3 cup)
1 tsp. kosher salt, divided
i loving cup uncooked pearled farro, rinsed and drained well
4 cups lower-sodium chicken goop
2 cups water
ane (4-in.) Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese rind
1 bay leaf
i (15-oz.) can small white beans, such as cannellini, drained and rinsed

1. Heat olive oil in a big Dutch oven over medium. Add together onion, carrots, celery, and ½ teaspoon of the table salt. Cook, stirring ofttimes with a wooden spoon, until onions brainstorm to soften, nigh 4 minutes.
